Customs Clearance
Imported or exported goods are subject to customs clearance attained by completion of customs documents in accordance with the country’s laws . This requires experienced and qualified clearing agents to undertake such tasks . Types of clearances
Duty paying clearances – goods that are subject to duty are classified under a tariff schedule that determines the amount of duty payable to government through the tax collection Authority www.zimra.co.zw Suspended duty clearances – there are circumstances where duty can be totally or partially scrapped depending on the type of suspension provided . Most commonly used suspensions are rebate (mining, agriculture, construction, immigrants ,disabled people’s vehicle imports ,charity organisations, etc . In all cases of suspended duties or where they (duties) are levied ,the completion of customs documents is still required from a licenced clearing agent who is well acquainted with technical terms and the customs procedures .

Consolidations
For those goods that are packed in small packages that do not fill an entire container, unit load device, truck or wagon ,Gimatar Logistics (Pvt) Ltd provides a service of gathering these small units ,together with other customers’ goods ,into a quantity sufficient to fill a container ,unit load device or haulage truck . This results in a cheap freight rate as the actual rate is economically shared among the importers. We call this consolidation.
Goods sufficient for transportation on haulage trucks are well forwarded to different parts of the region. Types of trucks used are as follows : refridgerated , flat deck trailers, side boards ,tippers ,abnormal low bed trailers among others .
Containers
Containerised cargo is very common especially for sea transportation . We provide the most efficient and reliable movement of these containers from major ports such as the Far East , Europe, Africa and the Middle East . (See Routes and Major Ports )
Warehousing
Bonded warehousing:
We facilitate movement of goods via customs - licenced premises known as bonded warehouses . The principal function of this arrangement is the introduction of goods into the country without payment of duty under a special undertaking made by the warehouse owner through a surety who can be a commercial bank or insurance broker. This allows importers and exporters to consume their cargo little by little as the funds for customs duty ,vat and other taxes are available . Other activities that can be done in respect of these goods are repacking ,disposal ,sample collection ,re-exporting etc
General warehousing:
Goods not bound by any customs regulation or those that are fully cleared can be stored in a general warehouse at a charge agreed upon with the warehouse proprietor or operator . Many retailers use these warehouses to stock goods for sale at the optimum season or when demand surges . Gimatar Logistics provides general warehousing space at a very competitive rate .
Consultancy
The movement of cargo across international borders requires technical knowledge of shipping terms , regulations ,customs codes among other complex requirements. In order to make an informed decision , one has to gather all information necessary before planning to import or export goods . This is where we come in . Transit Management
Commercial cargo that is destined for other countries but passing through Zimbabwe is known as transit cargo . In terms of the customs law , the goods are subject to customs clearance in a special manner that ensures that no cargo is disposed of or utilised in Zimbabwe without the payment of the duty held in the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority customs computer system . Since the duty will be temporarily suspended , the clearing agent needs to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the transit cargo indeed passed the borders of Zimbabwe. Under this scheme ,a special clerk is allocated to deal with the flow of information between the two organisations and maintaining a register of all transactions under a specific project. At the end of each project ,we issue out a report that can also assist in high decision making and conduction of a cost-benefit analysis in the case of those projects covered by duty suspensions.
